My Name Is Khan to set new records


SRK, Kajol & Karan on the sets of My Name Is Khan

Karan Johar has inked with the foreign studio for the international marketing and distribution of his most ambitious project My Name Is Khan. SRK and Kajol are pairing again in this film after Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gam. The foreign studio has paid something between Rs 95-98 crores to Karan for his most ambitious project so far. The trade sources say that its not a great deal as any India studio may have paid amount more than that. On the other hand, Karan says, “Only a major foreign studio has the capability to take Indian cinema to the international market.”

With 2000 prints the film will be released in 600 theaters only in north America, is setting the new records for Bollywood. “MNIK is a powerful, emotional journey that will cross borders and cultures to enthrall the audiences. Karan and Shah Rukh Khan have a brilliant vision,” says Jim Gianopulos, chairman and CEO of Foreign studio.

A trade analyst said, “As of now My Name Is Khan will have the widest release for any Bollywood film in North America.”

Aamir will also try hard to break this record with his film Three Idiots which is going to release in December.
